The Sarlo Foundation Distinguished Humanitarian Service Awards were established by venture capitalist and IRC overseer George Sarlo in 2001. The awards honor outstanding IRC staff in the U.S. and around the world for their extraordinary dedication and sacrifice in serving survivors of conflict, persecution or natural disaster. The awards are made possible through a grant from The Sarlo Foundation of the Jewish Community Endowment Fund.
The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people to survive and rebuild their lives. For 80 years, we have offered lifesaving care and life-changing assistance to refugees forced to flee from war, persecution or natural disaster. At work today in over
40 countries and 22 U.S. cities, the IRC leads the way from harm to home.
