A favorite place for Hatha Yoga is The Integral Yoga Institute, an ashram founded in the 1960s by guru Sri Swami Sachidananda. IYI is located in a beautiful Victorian on Dolores Street near Dolores Park. The Hatha Yoga classes taught here tend to have a more spiritual focus, which is to say that they take a more holistic approach, incorporating chanting, meditation and pranayama, (or breathing exercises) into the practice of the physical postures.
