Strike up the band and join family and friends to celebrate Independence Day Saratoga style. The event will be held on Thursday, July 4 from 9:30am to 11am at the Kevin Moran Park at 12415 Scully Avenue in Saratoga.
Everyone is encouraged to wear red, white and blue in celebration of the day. Those who served in the military are encouraged to wear their uniforms. This special, free event includes the color guard; patriotic tunes from the McCartysville Volunteer Band; singing, costumed American historical characters; and concludes with a family parade around the park. Free US flags and popsicles are given to children.
Activities will include:
* Color Guard presents the flag
* McCartysville Volunteer Band plays patriotic tunes
* Actors in costume as American historical characters
* Youth chorus and sing-alongs of patriotic tunes
* Children's/Family parade
* Free popsicles for all and flags for children
* Montalvo Arts will host a crafts table for the youth.
* The local branch of Bank of America will host an area where kids and adults can draw pictures and write letters to our troops, to be forwarded to military personnel in Iraq and Afghanistan by
