Opening the festival with a free community screening of T-Rex on Thursday, July 28. (partnering with ITVS/PBS to offer it as a co-presentation with Indie Lens Pop-Up). Friday/Saturday screening feature length and short documentaries from 4 continents as well as panel discussions & post screening Q+As. We have Bay Area athletes and filmmakers featured in several of our programs.
The festival is our response to the ongoing conversation about equity in female sports and filmmaking -- there are great athletes, stories and storytellers out there and we want people to see and experience them. The festival coincides with the run up to the opening ceremonies of the Summer Olympics on August 5, 2016. As we are sweeping up the popcorn, Rio will be getting ready to roll out the welcome mat.
