a celebration of women composers
Join Ariose in a celebration of the work of women composers of the last 150 years. Fanny Hensel Mendelssohn sets the stage with two lively ruminations on nature and mystery. Modern composers Barbara Kolb, Meredith Monk, Emma Lou Diemer, and Judith Weir show the diversity of approaches by women composers in the late twentieth century. Suzanne Vega's "The Queen and the Soldier" (arranged by Michael McGushin) represents the work of women in popular song. Finally, experience the world premiere of Hyo-shin Na's "Three Pieces for Mixed Choir," commissioned by Ariose Singers.
