Hyatt Regency Monterey Hotel and Spa Gets Jazzy This November

He’s Dr. David Morwood, a plastic surgeon extraordinaire by day and by evening he is Dr. Jazz. Morwood is the jazz director at the Hyatt Regency Monterey Hotel and Spa as well as the house drummer. Every Friday night at the Hyatt Regency Monterey Hotel and Spa Morwood cuts the snare drum with the precision of a surgeon. The Fireplace Lounge at the Hyatt Regency Monterey has become one of the most sought-after spots for Monterey Bay area nightlife on weekend nights and Sunday mornings. The Lounge features the soothing sounds of jazz provided by Dr. David Thomas Morwood, Marshall Otwell and various guest performers along with a menu of small plates and appetizers, signature cocktails and an extensive wine list highlighting wines from Italy and California

All jazz events at the Fireplace Lounge at the Hyatt Regency Monterey Hotel and Spa at 1 Old Golf Course Road in Monterey are complimentary. Jazz times are 7:00 pm Friday and Saturday. • Saturday, November 1 - Guitar great Mike Lent - on a brief break from touring the world with Barry Manilow, this guitarist extraordinaire has appeared on Broadway, the Vegas strip, and national network TV numerous times!

• Friday, November 7 - Gary Meek/Pete Lips Jazz - Gary has toured and recorded with many of the great names in American music; Al Jerreau, Dionne Warwick, Jeff Lorber, Brian Bromberg and many others. Pete holds down the low end on bass like no other!

• Saturday, November 8 - John Taylor, trumpet and Gary Meek keyboards. John has played together with the Charlie Daniels band, the Temptations and countless others with special guests not to be missed by any jazz trumpet fan!

• Friday, November 14th - Mike Lent with special guests - join us in our newly designed Fireplace Lounge - music for dining, dancing, drinking, and just plain relaxing by our Huge Fireplace with this guitar great!

• Saturday, November 15th - Mark Hamersly Jazz send off party - join David Morwood and Friends for this farewell party for one of our favorite bass players in California as he heads off to the northwest! Mark has been one of our favorite bass players over the years for jazz to Brazilian music and beyond!

• Friday, November 21- Kenny Stahl/David Morwood Jazz - one of the top flutists anywhere brings his originals as well as standards back to the Hyatt Lounge. His latest recording has achieved national ranking on the jazz scene

• Saturday, November 22 - Roger Eddy with David Morwood and special guests - roger's big smooth sound on tenor sax shows us why he is one of the California coasts favorite musicians jazz to funk and pop and everything in between!

• Thursday, November 27th- Thanksgiving Jazz Brunch with the David Morwood Jazz Band featuring special guest vocalist Mayumi - a seemingly endless buffet of seafood, a traditional carving station, fresh California grown produce, and select children's offerings and more make the Hyatt Regency Holiday Brunch one of the most popular on the Monterey Bay!
