“While separation between races, religions, and species seem to be a political issue; I strive to show differences as a matter of perception. Without words, our minds are free to create associations.”
- Howard Hersh

Andrea Schwartz Gallery is pleased to announce a solo exhibition for Howard Hersh opening Wednesday, November 11, 2009.

Howard Hersh uses encaustic, an ancient hot wax technique. A natural and moody medium, Hersh has perfected his ability to manipulate the wax: to confine it in areas or let it spread freely in others, creating elegant layers of translucent color. Inspired by the Gaia principle, his multiple panel paintings explore the relationships between people, nature, and man-made objects. Continuous threads of organic and geometric shapes move through the work and emphasize the unity and connectivity of all living things.
