| Description Dance Brigade's MANIFESTI-VAL for Social Change continues into the second week of the three-week festival with politically-charged dance-theater works by Keith Hennessy and guest artists Jules Beckman and Seth Eisen. These provocative artists will premiere two metaphoric performance portraits of all-American despair called "How to Die".
"Homeless USA" is a poignant performance poem about homeless suicide. "American Tweaker" is a colorful spectacle about the crystal meth, barebacking, and AIDS. "How to Die" brings Hennessy's signature theater style to the fore - performance art; extreme bodies; innovative interdisciplinary collaborations; nudity, Drag, and digital sound. Political content remixed with unreal images. Ritual reconfigured in contemplative interventions on static citizenry. “How to Die” includes additional texts by Robert Olen Butler ("Homeless USA") and Kirk Read ("American Tweaker"). Dance Brigade’s MANIFESTI-VAL runs through November 18. |
