SEE EVENT DETAILS
at First Presbyterian Church of Oakland (see times)
WomenSing's holiday concert features songs that reflect seasonal joy and offer comfort in the face of global unrest. Highlights include Jessica Locke's Reading of the Names: The Firefighters, written in honor of the 343 firefighters who lost their lives on September 11, and the world premiere of Kirstina Rasmussen Collins' How Can I Keep From Singing? specially written for WomenSing.

The concert includes a procession to honor Santa Lucia, as celebrated in Sweden and Italy, complete with a wreath of candles. Srul Irvin Glick's Psalm 47 and Psalm 23 contrast calm meditation and the joy of these psalms. Reading of the Names and How Can I Keep From Singing? honor bravery and offer comfort.
