Mystic Bill

Known as a true preacher of underground house music, a member of Chicago's House Preservation Society, and one of the key figures in Chicago's warehouse and loft party scene. Bill has always been considered a "for those who know" type DJ. After a four-year hiatus, Bill has return to let the rest of the world in on his secret.

Bill's family migrated from Cuba in the late 1960's. He was born in Los Angeles, and later raised in Miami, Florida. At a young age he began attending nights at a club called "The Forest" a local teen club. The club would attract younger and older kids due to the music that was played. The Dj would play all of the Miami Tk Disco & Marlin Label music, along with a lot of the Italo Disco coming from Italy and what was known there as NY Underground Disco. Besides the music, groups like Lime, Sandy Martin & Den Harrow would perform there. At the time there were only a few clubs in Miami where you can here that type of music, until Salvation (downtown) came around. While most of his friends were able to get into Salvation, Bill was one of the unfortunate ones. "I remember sitting on the stairs outside, while people would be selling LSD to patrons walking in, and Krishna's would be on the sidewalk chanting". "There was no place like Salvation". Shortly after, he was able to obtain a fake ID and it was then, that he began going to clubs like Copa, Fire & Ice, Seda (South Eastern Disco Association) and Horizons. Right from the time he began attending clubs is when he became serious about record collecting. He had been dj'ing birthday parties, and events for friends, but it wasnt until a few of his early gigs at nights like "Disco Inferno", that he started getting some recognition. Bill remembers South Beach when it was mainly Artists, Punks and Gays that lived and partied there. He remembers discovering House Music when he landed a job at Flamingo Record Pool, a record pool run by Richard Mcvay & Bill Kelly (WMC fame). Bill remembers when promos from Chicago started coming in with house mixes and acid mixes. He felt so in tune with what was going on in Chicago that he felt the need to move there. He had friends that had recenly moved, and after frequent visits, he as well decided to make the move. Shortly after, he began spinning at clubs and loft parties around town. His first residency was at the Shelter in the downstairs Boiler Room, and later at places like The Vault with Derrick Carter, Mark Farina, as well as Alcazar with Spencer Kincy. In the time since he has held several residencies and has traveled around the world. He's worked with many well known artists in the business, and has released projects on labels such as Trax, Club House, Relief, and Rong Music to name a few. Bill has been an influence on many of today's talent and continues to spread his unique brand of underground house music to the world.

Gordo Cabeza (M.O.M. DJ founder/resident)

MOM SF was conceived by DJ Gordo Cabeza in April of 2009, it was born ofMOM SF is a Motown inspired dance party which was conceived by DJ Gordo Cabeza in April of 2009, it was born of a desire to reconnect with the music that was often the soundtrack to his childhood. More importantly it was a chance to honor the people and music who helped raise him, especially his mother.

MOM SF, held every Monday, was joined soon afterwards by DJs Timoteo Gigante, Phleck, Matteo,U9LIFT and a host of other talented Bay Area DJs. It has evolved into a multi-city weekly event including MOM SF (San Francisco), MOM LA (Los Angeles) & MOM HNL (Honolulu) as well as being booked along side many main acts under the moniker MOM DJs at festivals and special events. This summer will mark the launch of three more U.S. locations, including NYC, CHI, DEN. Look for international lift offs in 2013.
