( ( ( HOUSEPITALITY ) ) ) proudly presents an exclusive set from one of Chicago's new guard of DJ/producers (and one of CHI’s best kept secrets), backed by our own transplanted Chicagoan dream team:

::HAKIM MURPHY (Machining Dreams, Synapsis Records | Chicago)::

::SECRET STUDIO aka Tyrel Williams & Bai-ee::
(SS Records, Housepitality | SF/CHI)

Groove Lounge takeover by:

::PAUL CAREY (Tweekin’ | SF)::

A whole lot has been said about the impact of Chicago house music on the world at large, and most folks know that the history of Chicago house has shaped dance music itself worldwide. We know the names, the stories, the history. But what’s lacking from the conversation is often a discussion of those in Chicago who continue to create history, who continue to innovate and produce new and engaging dance music.

To remedy this, the Housepitality crew proudly welcomes one of the freshest voices currently producing in that city today: Hakim Murphy.

He began as a house dancer but was eventually compelled to study music composition and began to produce (and DJ) music, establishing himself with an impressive discography and creating two record labels of his own: Machining Dreams and Synaptic, each dedicated to releasing sounds from the underground.

We proudly present him to headline our house-centric night, with support from two of our Chicago-raised residents who have come together as brothers in house aka Tyrel Williams and Bai-ee, playing together under their Secret Studio moniker.

If you’ve missed these gents play together then it’s simply time to get down to the housepit and watch; their differing musical tastes and common ground allow them to bring a vibe that falls in line with their only rule: no weak shit.

In the back, we welcome back longtime SF dance music veteran Paul Carey, a record collect, talented DJ, and househead whose legacy in SF extends back to the infamous Tweekin’ record shop. We invite him back due to his complete ownage of our dance floor and ability to make us freak… welcome back PC.

Join us for this night of true house music and help us welcome those who keep it alive, week after week.

We got you.

XO.

Hakim Murphy

Hakim is a producer/dj from the Chicagoland area who's musical style ranges from House to Techno. Hakim's journey begin as a dancer in Chicago as a lot of his musical influences come from Larry Heard, Robert Armani, Dance Mania, Relief, and Cajual records. Since then Hakim has ventured into production work and eventually founded two records labels in 2008: Machining Dreams; and Synapsis Records with Avondale Music Society.

Bai-ee and Tyrel Williams have been inspiring each other musically for over a decade. Both with Chicago roots they came up on the diverse sounds of the area before transplanting themselves on the West Coast.

In San Francisco they became residents atHousepitality before moving into the Secret Studios Annex, where they combined gear and began recording music. Soon their studio became a go-to-spot for hosting acts before and after shows at Housepitality and Acid Test SF. The result has been SS Records, continued collaboration, and a parade of well-received original recordings and rocking dance floors.

Paul Carey

An avid record collector for almost 20 years, Paul Carey got his first taste of house music in the early underground house scene of Northern California circa 1993: A heady mix of full-moon parties, beach parties, dirty warehouses, laid-back clubs, and crazy house parties coupled with psychedelic, funky, deep house. In 2000, Paul started managing the infamous Tweekin Records and was also one of the stores buyers. Pauls talent and musical depth of field make him a standout DJ. He brings a fresh and innovative approach to the music, which assures him longevity in this highly competitive and progressive music industry. Paul has become a well-established artist in the San Francisco underground music scene. He plays cutting edge music , with one eye firmly fixed on the dancefloor at all times. His influences include: SFs legendary Wicked crew (Jeno, Garth & Markie Mark), Mark Farina, DJ Harvey ,Doc Martin, the DIY crew (UK) , DJ Buck. Pauls shared the decks with such internationally acclaimed DJs as Mark Farina ,Diz , Joshua (IZ) , Luke Soloman, Derrick Carter , Miguel Migs, Jeno, Doc Martin, DJ Harvey , Dan Ghenacia , Z-Trip, Peanut Butter Wolf, etc. Paul has played at every major venue and multiple underground parties in San Francisco. 1015 , Monarch , 222 , Ruby Skye , The End Up ,and The Top are just a few of the clubs in San Francisco.
