METRIK

Tom Mundell a.k.a Metrik is a London based DJ / producer who has been blowing the scene to pieces with his euphoric, rave-inspired productions. Already clocking up a sizeable back catalogue of releases on labels such as Viper Recordings, Spearhead and Shogun Audio, he signed exclusively to Hospital Records in October 2012.

Known for impressing crowds across the UK, Europe and across the world with his peaktime dancefloor tunes featuring big hooks and catchy melodies, Metrik has certainly captured the imagination of many fans already and will undoubtedly continue to do so in the coming months and years. With diverse tastes ranging from Pryda to Incubus, Pink Floyd to The Prodigy, Metrik’s love of music doesn’t stop there. An avid fan of 80s music, film music as well as dance music across the board, his influences span house, techno, trance, rock, soul and classical.

Metrik’s first big break was in 2008, when he debuted with Your World (Instrinsic) which became an overnight liquid funk anthem although it wasn’t until the next release that he was catapulted into the spotlight when his track “Technicolour” gained Radio One support from Annie Mac and Zane Lowe and was also used as a sound bed for Barack Obama’s victory speech on Radio One. Following this came a slew of singles and EPs with notable releases including the sci-fi inspired “Between Worlds EP” (Viper, 2011) and notably the smash hit “Freefall” (Viper, 2012) as well as remixes of Prydz, John B, Camo & Krooked, Ayah Marar, Rockwell, DJ Fresh, Dirtyphonics and many more.

2013 was literally a non-stop year for Metrik with worldwide tours and the release of his self titled debut EP. This went on to be heavily supported by key players of the scene including Sub Focus, Mistajam, High Contrast & DJ Hype. The success of the EP led to great radio opportunities as he was asked to do the prestigious Radio One Essential Mix as part of the "future stars" series, took on a BBC Radio 1Xtra residency, covered for Crissy Criss and joined the BBC Introducing projects at Maida Vale studios.

Metrik's debut album 'Universal Language' is available now from The Hospital Shop, iTunes and all other good stores.

ETHERWOOD

Etherwood is the most recent signing to Med School and is undoubtedly one of the most promising young talents in the scene today. Originally from Lincoln and now living in London, Woody has already captured the imagination of thousands across the globe with his achingly beautiful beats and heartfelt melodies.

Brought up on everything from The Beatles and Stevie Wonder, to Hendrix and Pink Floyd, Woody’s exposure to classic rock and folk swiftly propelled him into the world of music. He bought his first guitar when he was 12 and immediately started to write songs and play in bands and the rest, as they say, is history. To this day, Woody still plays guitar for Jakwob.

Etherwood first discovered drum + bass in the late 90s and, inspired by the likes of Aphrodite, Photek, Logistics, Roni Size, and DJ Hype, he was drawn to it by the atmosphere, tempo and energy. Still no more than a passive observer of the scene, from there, he got into bands like Mogwai, Godspeed You Black Emperor, Explosions In The Sky, The Album Leaf and Telefon Tel Aviv and cites these as some of his key influences.

Fusing the upbeat energy of drum and bass with the chilled, atmospheric moods of reverb-heavy guitar and delayed piano rolls, it’s hard to believe that Etherwood only started producing drum and bass two years ago. Already he’s received support from Radio One, Capital FM, XFM, Triple J and Rinse FM and has remixed high profile artists including Lana Del Ray, Jakwob and Jess Mills.

His first solo release was on Hospital Records – “Give It Up”, which appeared on ‘Sick Music 3’ in November 2012, swiftly followed by the now iconic anthem “Spoken” which appeared on the ‘Hospitality Drum & Bass 2013 and of course, his most recent offering on Med School, “Unfolding” which opened the ‘New Blood 013’ album in March 2013.

As we look to the horizon, things are looking very promising for this future star. With a signature sound that is deeply compelling and a dedicated fanbase all eager to hear what’s next from Etherwood, you can expect to be hearing a lot more from Etherwood over the coming months and years.

NU:TONE

Since signing to Hospital in 2003, Nu:Tone has risen through the ranks to become one of the most highly respected producers in the scene, with everyone from LTJ Bukem to Sub Focus busting his tunes.

Nu:Tone’s debut album “Brave Nu World“ dropped in 2005 with all of the Drum + Bass’ hierarchy supporting it. Following this, there was the stunning sophomore “Back Of Beyond“, which dropped in June 2007 with critics hailing it as “the perfect marriage of accelerated junglist funk and cooled-out 70s melody” (DJ Mag).

As the lynchpin of the Future Sound Of Cambridge crew, Dan was instrumental in getting younger brother Logistics, Commix and of course himself into the studio to produce the devastating full length “Future Sound Of Cambridge 3“ in 2008. In the same year, Nu:Tone submitted his “Medical History“ in LP format.

Early in 2010, Dan’s anthemic 12” release “Hyper Hyper” set the world on fire, championed by Sub Focus and featured on the “Hospitality D+B 2010″ compilation. 2011 also saw the release of Dan’s third album on Hospital; the inspired audio-visual concept “Words + Pictures”. Possibly Dan’s most ambitious project yet, the album was received very well, and the design even got a mention in The Guardian.

Nu:Tone remixes are always guaranteed to please – whether it’s the retro soul of his “Spread Love” anthem or the junglist wobble of his “Strictly Social” re-rub or his incredible remix of Adele’s “Rolling In The Deep” or Emelie Sande – “Heaven”. Remix-wise, 2010 saw Nu:Tone busy re-shaping New Zealand Shapeshifter’s ‘”Long White Cloud”, Dekata Project’s “At Least We Can Dance” and Unicorn Kid’s “Wild Fire”.

During 2013 he continued his fine form of remix work as well as team up with younger brother Logistics to produce under the Nu:Logic moniker. The sum of their combined powers has led to LP’s ‘Morning Light’ and ‘Everlasting Days’ that showcase a nebula of new sounds and techniques. Similarly, their album ‘What I’ve Always Waited For’ oozes the kind of soulful Drum and Bass that harks back to the foundation of the Hospital label.

Few drum+bass artists command the same respect as Nu:Tone, both within the scene and across the wider dance music community, with his recent discography taking in remixes for the likes of 3 beat, Warner and Sony. Nu:Tone has stripped down and re-worked the likes of Axwell, Sandy Revera et al, with Major labels clamouring for his skills behind a mixing desk.

Finally in Autumn 2014 Nu:Tone is set to release his fourth studio album. He is an artist with the kind of rich history and authority to be able to reach into drum+bass’ deepest past and create an album of snapshots from the many ages of jungle; his forthcoming LP ‘Future History’ is a testament to this and his experience.

DYNAMITE MC

Dynamite MC, (born & Dominic Smith, 7 October) grew up around the world , Germany, Ireland, Brazil , Gloucester , Bristol and now London. He originally gained prominence in jungle/drum and bass, working with Roni Size and Reprazent, but has also released hip hop and breaks and garage material.

Dynamite's role was enhanced for Reprazent's second album, the hip-hop influenced In The Mode (2000).

The track, "Bounce", is featured on the soundtrack of Madden NFL '07.

Dynamite then spent 3 years as a radio host on Kiss Fm , interviewing Lady Gaga, P Diddy, Ja Rule, Estelle, Chip, Redman, Shaggy, Sway, Wretch 32, Robin Thicke, Nicole Sherzinger and many more ..
