Let the Summer Cookouts Begin
Once that familiar San Francisco fog rolls in, you can't help but think that Bay Area Indian summers are just around the corner. And then the visions of backyard, rooftop, and beachside cookouts come to mind. The timing couldn't be better to get into gear and shop for those wonderful gadgets and accessories for dining al fresco. Large chain stores like Crate and Barrel and Pottery Barn are practically giving away outdoor-themed merchandise in order to make room for the fall back-to-school season. Bay Area residents are just beginning to dust off those beach chairs and picnic blankets... More

Slumber in Style
There's nothing like climbing into a tall, cozy bed to catch some ZZZ's. Imagine snuggling up under a European goose down comforter and into 500 thread count Egyptian cotton sheets over a cloud-like feather bed. It's enough to keep you in bed all day. More

A Dream Come True
Love struck Diane Valranges deeply and madly when she first set foot in San Francisco 12 years ago. Having realized her first dream in life of becoming a journalist, the French native set her sights and heart on her next dream: moving to our city. Formidable immigration laws obstructed her path, but she came back with a fervor and vision of using her taste for beauty to open a French home décor store. Thus, Peche Mignon is not only a dream come true for Valranges, but also for us lucky San Franciscans who now need only travel as far as the Inner Richmond to procure unique and charming items from France. All the Comforts of Home
No two visits to Aldea, a hip home furnishings store in the Mission, are apt to be the same. Well, there may be one thing: you are bound to find something that tickles your fancy and may leave the sensory-rich experience with an inspiration for redesigning your home. Store proprietor Johanna Bialkin moved to San Francisco from New York inspired by a project where interior designers and architects redesigned an apartment every six months, and the results are fresh and dazzling. Resources for your urban refuge San Francisco
In a city shrouded in fog for most of the year, rare sunny days bring San Franciscans outdoors in droves. Kicking back in your yard or on a back porch is a great way to escape the heat and noise of the dirty city streets. And though lounging in a backyard is lovely, being faced with tall weeds or a sad barren porch may drive you back inside onto your couch. Fortunately for San Franciscans, Floorcraft Garden Center and Guerrero Street Gardens have the tools, plants and experienced staff with the know-how to get your outside oasis ready for your enjoyment. Pet Pleasing Purchases
I will admit with no shame that I spoil Guinevere, my Staffordshire Bull Terrier. For her 10th birthday last year, I bought her an ox-blood red leather collar with silver stars and a black leather leash to replace the old nylon ones she had been sporting for years. For Christmas, I gave her a furry squeaky toy in the shape of a fox that she managed to rip up in about two weeks. I also feed her organic dry dog food and indulge her addiction to what I call 'dog crack', otherwise known as Greenies chew treats. More
