ROLLIGION - THE CHURCH OF 8 WHEELS
A church is the fellowship of people, who form a spiritual community. A church is not the building but the people. The Church of 8 Wheels is a fellowship of people that celebrates life on wheels, 8 wheels in particular!!! We love skating. We form a bond with others who rejoice on a beautiful day with great people and family that make up our flock. We are a caring, sharing and giving community of people that loves life with wheels on their feet – and now we have a building too!!!
A church may not be the building, but churches make great roller skating rinks!!!!! Sacred Heart Church on the corner of Fillmore and Fell Streets in San Francisco has been sitting vacant for nearly a decade. It does need some work, but the Holy Rollers of the Church of 8 Wheels will come together for roller worship here with a roller disco event on Thursday Nov. 7 2013.
The roller disco services will begin at 7PM and end at 11PM. The cost is $10 to enter and $5 for skate rentals. David “D” Miles, the “GodFather of Skate” in San Francisco will be your MC/DJ minister spreading the word of the old school funk and roller disco music that is the main source of our rolligious energy.
Roller skating in San Fancisco is on the upswing!!!!! Whether it’s the weekly Friday Night Skate, the Funkytown Tuesday Night Roller Disco or Last Fridays at the Women’s Building or Sunday in Golden Gate Park, there are more and more roller skaters looking to have a good time on skates. There are no roller rinks anywhere in the City and Miles is always looking for a venue that works. Looks like we found it!!!!!
We're going to have a funky good time!!!
