Description
Holly Golightly got her start in the early ’90s with throwback-garage-punk factory Billy Childish, as singer for one of his many projects: all-girl badasses Thee Headcoatees. With Childish as her mentor, she went solo in 1995, emulating his ability to put out a slew of releases so formidable it’s enough to make you believe that Multiplicity has come true. Her latest project is with Lawyer Dave, who goes by “the Brokeoffs.” For a few years now, the pair have been making music that’s in the same general bluesy, roots-rock vein as Golightly’s past work, but more like something out of O Brother, Where Art Thou?—darker, spookier, and seemingly from another time altogether. It only proves there’s more than one way to be a rock primitive.
