Multimedia exhibit “Hidden In Plain Sight! T-Shirts and the Curation of Identity” will be on display at the Contemporary Jewish Museum store now through November 1, 2015. Exploring Jewish identity through t-shirts showcasing funny and/or ironic messages accompanied by quirkily personal videos projected onto the display, “Hidden in Plain Sight!” aims to highlight the shirts’ multiple levels of meaning and explore the concept of modern Jewish identity.
Created by Stanford University’s Ari Kelman in collaboration with multimedia artist Sam Ball of Citizen Film, the exhibit invites museumgoers to contribute by sharing their stories and the t-shits that speak of their individual cultural background via the project’s website at http://www.ethnictshirts.org/your-shirt/. Visitors will will also have the opportunity to purchase select shirts on display for under $30.
