About Herbst International Exhibition Hall

Located at the Presidio of San Francisco, the Herbst International Exhibition Hall was originally designed and constructed by the Army Corps of Engineers in 1954 as the Post Exchange. Completely renovated in 1996 by the Fort Mason Foundation, the Exhibition Hall is a free-standing building with 5,476 square feet of exhibition space.

" Even after living for only six months in San Francisco, the mere utterance of the words "dot" and "com" still trigger an wave of nausea within, accompanied by flashing neon warning signs pleading with me to run far, far away­ not from the modern ghost town of abandoned live/work SOMA lofts, but from the inevitable "screw those yuppies" diatribe. Residents of the Bay Area may be the largest concentrated population to understand the ugly effects of a shotgun marriage between the dot coms and the electronic-everything craze. The result, however, is that a lot of time and energy has been spent picking at the dot com scab and then complaining... "
