Quiet Life
Quiet Life made their latest album over the course of a few humid mid-summer weeks in Dr. Dog’s Mt Slippery studio in Philadelphia with zero air conditioning and with no time constraints. The sessions with producer Scott McMicken (Dr. Dog) and engineer Nathan Sabatino would blur the lines of day and night; resulting in a 24/7 operation across Mt. Slippery’s multiple live-rooms and mixing consoles. What emerged from the murk of this studio schedule is FOGGY, a record that has as many sonic traits as the band has miles on their tour van. Quiet Life enlisted an old friend, Greg Giorgio (The National, Trey Anastasio), to give the record a final mix and clarity that belies it’s name. Spanning lo-fi folk, Americana and psychedelic pop, Quiet Life has made a record that is as ageless as the sound of the predecessors to whom they credit inspiration. Rolling Stone has called the band “charming”, CMT has described their sound as having “oceanside swagger” and Esquire touts them as “comfortably authentic”. FOGGY is an easy-going collection of songs that defines the band as a purveyor of classic rock and roll sounds, and as a successor to rock and roll staples, who have managed to create a sound unmistakably their own.
Farallons
"Farallons’ music is painted in shades of California, though not in the sunny, beach-rock way often associated with the state. It's warm but dark – darker than it initially seems, darker even so with every listen. It takes its time, moving forward at its own pace, only after each electric guitar reverberation has properly rung out, and every acoustic riff has been distinguished. It's stripped back, but also layered. It holds in it the power of what makes California so attractive–it's beautiful, and there's a certain ease to it – but in a more realistic way than say, The Beach Boys ever did. It's less about “Fun, Fun, Fun,” and more concerned with modern disconnects, though the fun is still there (See: “With Our Friends”). With Andrew Brennan (guitar, vocals), Aubrey Trinnaman (synthesizer, vocals), Scott Fetzer (guitar, vocals), Blake Henderson (bass), and Justin Wiener (drums), theirs is a live show that is at once intimate and expansive, much like their deput EP, Outer Sun Sets.

The chilled out buddy blues of ASSATEAGUE brings mellow vibes for jittery times. Songs about staying up too late and getting up too early. Started by Danny Gotimer and Wilmer Laufman a few years ago to make the record Good Morning Blues, the band has grown to include Bob Thayer, Sean Olmstead, Sterling Schegel, and Annie Flemming.
