Winner of four 2014 Theater Bay Area Awards (Outstanding Production, Direction, Ensemble, and Sound Design for Moby Dick – Rehearsed), Stanford Repertory Theater (SRT) proudly announces our 17th - annual summer festival, celebrating the work of Noël Coward. Playwright, actor, director, songwriter, painter, and novelist, Coward emerged as a performing -Renaissance man,- who shaped important aspects of English and American culture from 1920 – 1970.
As part of our Noël Coward Festival, SRT will mount Cowards masterpiece Hay Fever. Directed by Lynne Soffer—director of SRTs critically acclaimed The Importance of Being Earnest in 2013—Hay Fever stars SRT company artist Courtney Walsh as Judith Bliss, the diva with a penchant for non-retirement, alongside Deborah Fink (Myra Arundel), Richard Carlton (David Bliss), Rush Rehm (Richard Greatham), Catharine Luedtke (Clara), Austin Caldwell (Simon Bliss), and Kiki Bagger (Sorel Bliss).
A brilliantly witty look at the self-dramatization of family life and loves, Hay Fever has delighted audiences for almost a century. With costumes by multi-award winning Connie Strayer, sets by Ani-Lin Dauber (2014 TBA nominee for SRTs Moby Dick – Rehearsed) and sound by Brigitte Wittmer (2014 TBA nominee for SRTs War of the Worlds), Hay Fever offers a ravishing evening of theater in the incomparable Coward style.
