About Harputs Y-3

Outside 1527 Fillmore, just below Japantown and Upper Fillmore's stretch of boutiques and cafes, is a man wearing a surgical mask with gloves. Meet Matt Dick, Creative Director for Harputs Y-3. Currently under renovation, the nondescript storefront is easy to miss but will soon showcase the world's largest concentration of Y-3 designs from Yohji Yamamoto for Adidas.

Matt Dick is helping Harputs to re-launch in June as Harputs Y-3. The new store space is part of what used to be a Victorian cinema. Matt's mindfulness of the original building's aesthetics is evident in the new space. A mezzanine balcony stretches along one side. One man is hard at work chipping off the suffocating white plaster to expose the mighty industrial steel beams that soar to the high ceilings. A glass façade is in the works to create an open environment inviting to passersby from the sidewalk. -- Grace Chen

Old School Style

" There's a Fillmore time capsule waiting for you to unearth. Rainbow colored adidas pepper Harputs' walls on opposite sides of the room. These shoes have made it through decades of stock rotation. From cellar rooms 50 feet deep, they're making their final curtain call. Without a doubt, Harputs shoe store has the most extensive classic adidas shoe selection in the world. "
