9/18-19: WOLF CHILDREN (Japanese version, with English subtitles)
A staggeringly beautiful animated feature film from director/co-writer Mamoru Hosoda (Summer Wars). This epic cinematic achievement follows Hana (voice of Aoi Miyazaki), a woman who falls in love with a Wolf Man and gives birth to two half human, half wolf children. After the tragic death of her beloved, Hana seeks refuge in a rural town where she attempts to build a life for herself—and her children. Raising her little wild things leaves Hana bruised, scratched, exhausted and joyously overwhelmed as her pups grow stronger and wander further every day. This is a mother’s journey: teach your children to chase their dreams—and smile through the tears as they disappear into the world in search of who they will become. Winner of 19 international awards, including the Japanese Academy Award for Best Animation Film.

9/26: THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW
With The Bawdy Caste performing live
The longest-running midnight movie of all time stars Tim Curry as the kinky yet endearing “transsexual from Transylvania” Dr. Frank N. Furter, Susan Sarandon and Barry Bostwick as his hapless guests Brad and Janet, Meat Loaf as motorcycle-riding rough trade and author Richard O’Brien as the hunchbacked butler Riff Raff. It’s harmless musical fun—a delightful spoof of Hollywood horror movies and Old Dark House melodramas. THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW was the first—and is still the best—interactive movie experience! https://www.rockyhorror.com

10/3: THE BABADOOK
From breakthrough writer-director Jennifer Kent comes the creepy psychological horror movie THE BABADOOK that has received an explosion of acclaim following its world premiere at Sundance 2014. The film tells of a single mother, plagued by the violent death of her husband, who battles with her son’s night time fear of a shadowy monster. But soon, she discovers a sinister presence is lurking in the house. With echoes of past and contemporary classics like Rosemary’s Baby, The Tenant, The Exorcist, The Omen and Let the Right One In, the film is an immaculately crafted tale starring Essie Davis and Noah Wiseman. The supporting cast includes Daniel Henshall, Hayley McElhinney, Barbara West, and Ben Winspear.

10/10: THE ROOM

10/16-17: THE LOST BOYS
Sleep all day. Party all night. Never grow old. Never die. It's fun to be a vampire! When newly-divorced Lucy (Dianne Wiest) moves her sons to her father's house in Santa Clara, California (actually filmed in Santa Cruz) —"the murder capital of the world"—her teenage son, Michael (Jason Patric), quickly falls in with the town's bad kids: a bike-riding, Jim Morrison-worshipping gang of blood-sucking vampires. Her younger son Sam (Corey Haim) and his buddies, the Frog brothers, are the only ones who recognize the signs of vampirism in Michael, and they plot to battle the legions of the night before they take over the entire town. Co-starring Barnard Hughes, Ed Herrmann, Kiefer Sutherland, Jami Gertz and Corey Feldman; stylishly directed by Joel Schumacher.

10/23-24: THE LIVING DEAD AT THE MANCHESTER MORGUE (uncut, unrated version)
This 1974 Spanish-Italian horror film (also known as Let Sleeping Corpses Lie, Don't Open The Window, and more alternate titles) is a carefully constructed and beautifully photographed tale of the undead roaming the English countryside from acclaimed Spanish Director Jorge Grau. Two traveling companions, George (Ray Lovelock of Autopsy) and Edna (Christine Galbo of The Killer Must Kill Again), are harassed by a local police investigator (Arthur Kennedy of The Antichrist & Fantastic Voyage) in the English countryside, and are framed for murders committed by zombies who have been brought to life by an earth-thumping machine designed to kill insects. A gruesome showdown leads to the Manchester Morgue for an ending that knots a horrifying twist in the lives of all involved.
