San Francisco’s Best Weekly Parties

Consistency is sometimes comforting, even when it comes to partying at one of San Francisco’s many night clubs and venues. Several long-standing weekly parties throughout the city have grown a loyal fan base with great music and party friendly vibes. Here are a few of our favorites.

Bootie
SATURDAYS, DNA LOUNGE
For more than 10 years Bootie SF’s mashup parties have drawn big crowds. You’ll hear anything from David Bowie to Wolfgang Gartner to Lady Gaga. Keep an open mind—when Bootie residents like MyKill get on deck, no genre is safe and and everybody’s on their feet. The party is so popular it has expanded with regular events in LA and other locations.

NightLife at Academy of Sciences
THURSDAYS, ACADEMY OF SCIENCES
California Academy of Sciences opens it’s doors for an adults-only party each week, with cocktails, live music and DJs, and learning opportunities with a different quirky theme each week. One week might feature Nosaj Thing and Daedelus for an outdoor concert while the next hosts a beer tasting from local breweries. Regardless, it’s a great venue plenty to look at, including an albino alligator that hangs around for the party. .

Battle of the Decades
WEDNESDAYS, MONROE
Decades night at Monroe is a case of happy hour turned party. Starting at 6pm, drinks are $1. Every hour on the hour, the price jumps a dollar and finally lands at $4 at 9pm. The music does the same, starting with the 70s and landing on post-2000. The end result of these two features is a fun crowd jovially dancing and singing along to their favorite nostalgic hits, whether it be Jethro Tull or Beastie Boys or Tupac. Get there early to hit the maximum value for your dollar and save the extra cash for the taco truck on the patio.

Afrolicious
THURSDAYS, ELBO ROOM
Afrolicious is a multi-piece funk group that’s gained popularity during their weekly performances at the Elbo Room over the years. Now the two founding DJs tperform every Thursday with a number of rotating electronic/funk acts. Elbo Room is a great bar any day of the week, and this weekly is just an excuse to get out there.

Base
THURSDAYS, HARLOT
Base is known for bringing acclaimed international house and techno acts to Harlot every Thursday. You won’t find better house music anywhere in SF consistently every Thursday.

Popscene
VARIOUS, RICKSHAW STOP
