Groundation

SEE EVENT DETAILS
Groundation

Groundation is bringing classic Roots music into the serious times of the 21st Century. The 9-piece, California-based group has created an entirely unique sound and style: an organic melange of Roots Reggae, heavy Jazz/Funk fusion and transcendental Dub. Their live show has become the stuff of legend; combining the message and intensity of the best Reggae music has to offer with perpetually fresh, Jazz-inspired improvisation.

Having gained a massive following and international notoriety for their progressive fusion style, Groundation regularly headlines major international festivals (Nice Jazz Fest, Summerjam, Sunsplash) and play to huge crowds the world over. From Sydney to Paris, from Jerusalem to Sao Paulo
and from Rome to San Francisco, Groundation is at the forefront of an international musical movement, with positive social change as the goal and music as the weapon.

Pure Roots

Not often you find a drummer as the band leader, composer, and original member. Jeff Allgrove formed the reggae band Pure Roots in 2007. Matt Barnett & Akim Anderson are the core members alongside Allgrove. This powerful reggae act has performed with many greats, playing sold out shows and stunning crows. The band's heavy hitting bass lines, melodic grooves, and lively horn section makes Pure Roots stand out amongst other acts. Based out of Santa Cruz, California, Pure Roots has often performed as an all instrumental band, and currently is the backing band for Andrew Reid (Son of reggae artist Junior Reid). Many guest vocalists have been featured with Pure Roots such as Briana Kai & Judah.
Pure Roots released their first single "Jah The Highest" and the dub remix "Jah The Dubbest" in January 2012, featuring reggae legend Junior Reid and rising star Briana Kai, recorded and produced by Right Vibes Productions with Jeff Allgrove in the ESI Sound Studio with JR Records. The songs are available internationally on itunes and most major media sites, and has received airplay in the United States, South America, Europe & Japan. In April 2012 Pure Roots featuring Andrew Reid completed a 7 city tour with Daniel "Bambaata" Marley. In 2012 Pure Roots was featured at The 17th Annual Monterey Bay Reggae Festival. Pure Roots has shared the stage with international artists such as Black Uhuru, Israel Vibration & Roots Radics, The Abyssinians, Don Carlos, Michael Rose, Midnite, The Melodians and many more.

In March 2013 a brand new HD video "Pure Roots Live In San Francisco HD" was released internationally. Following the video release In Spring 2013 Pure Roots completed a West Coast Tour with legendary Jamaican artists The Wailing Souls. They ended their tour on the main-stage at the 12th Annual Reggae In The Desert Festival in Las Vegas opening for Steel Pulse, Marcia Griffiths & The Wailing Souls. Summer 2013 Pure Roots returned to perform on the main-stage at the 18th Annual Monterey Bay Reggae Festival and backed The Wailing Souls on stage. Pure Roots is currently in the studio working on the album "Youth Rising," featuring Andrew and his brother Wada and their father Junior Reid, the album is expected to be released internationally in 2014.
