An exhibition of photographs by Sarah Deragon at Rare Device Divisadero (600 Divisadero St.) of her project Fredrick the Golden Dinosaur, a fabulous golden dinosaur that has all sorts of adventures with his husband, Lewis, and their daughters, Chloe and Zoe. Photographs feature hand-lettering by prominent illustrator, Lisa Congdon. Also in the gallery will be actual spray painted toy dinosaurs.
Artist Statement: With influences as diverse as My Little Ponies to Strawberry Shortcake, I’ve loved toys and how they can instantly bring back feelings and memories associated with childhood. I’ve always enjoyed doing arts and crafts, and had recently started experimenting with spray paint. One day, I spray painted a toy dinosaur, named him Frederick after my grandpa, and my imagination just soared as I started this whimsical journey with Frederick as my tour guide. Now, after many months, I have a collection I want to share with people, to make them smile and to inspire them to explore their creativity.
