*Previously known as “Lightsaber Battles,” the tour was forced to change its name by legal settlement with Lucasfilm*

Following the success of the “Lightsaber Battle” last December, which saw 10,000 Star Wars fans participating across four major U.S. cities, Newmindspace is striking back this holiday season with an inspired sequel and a brand new name titled “Glow Sword Battle.” This year, the Glow Sword Battle will happen in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Seattle.

"For many years we have sought to bring free, family-friendly fun events to the public spaces where people live, work and play,” says Newmindspace co-founder, Kevin Bracken. “These battles are art made by the participants, and everyone is welcome. We couldn't be more excited to bring it back to San Francisco bigger and better under our new name."

*Last year, Lucasfilm, owned by Disney issued, Newmindspace a cease and desist letter over the use of the “lightsaber” word, and Newmindspace avoided any further legal action, by voluntarily complying with their wishes and rebranding accordingly.*

“Being forced to drop our original fan-enthused name doesn’t dampen our spirits surrounding the release of the new film coming out this December,” says Bracken. “The Glow Sword Battle is the same free public event that broke records last year for becoming the largest of its kind. We will continue celebrating one of the most infamous battles in moving picture history sequel after sequel.”

Fans can reserve glow swords this year for $10. Each glow sword changes up to 6 colors, is about 3' long, and they will be available for pick up at the event. This year's venue is an amazing new park and will feature food trucks, a licensed area, and music.

The Glow Battle Tour is not affiliated with, authorized or endorsed by, or in any way officially connected with, Hasbro, Inc., Lucasfilm Ltd., The Walt Disney Company, Disney Enterprises, Inc., or any of their affiliates.

About Newmindspace
Since 2005, Newmindspace have organized hundreds of free, fun, family-friendly outdoor events across North America. Newmindspace aims to build community, reclaim public space, and raise money for charities that focus on children’s welfare and the environment.
