In the wake of the abrupt departure of his successor, Adm. William J. Fallon, who served just over a year, and the high profile of the issue of the U.S. presence in Iraq in the presidential campaign, General John Abizaid offers a timely examination of U.S. presence in the Middle East: past, present, and future. He served from 2003 to 2007 as Commander of the US Central Command overseeing military operations in the Middle East and during this Forum will discuss the prospects for victory…or peace.
