"The first time I ever put two records together I was 11. The first time I ever played at a club - 18. And the first place I had a full-blown residency was at the Powerhouse with Ron Carroll, DJ Rush and myself, in... well, the poster on the wall over there says "1990."
I just love making music and I love DJing, I just keeping doing my thing. So I am just pushing myself. I think less like "ambassador" and more along the lines of of teaching the things I was taught and showing people the growth of the music. I do travel all over the world - I have performed in 37 countries - -and that's a blessing. And I carry the Chicago banner, the house music banner."
2015 is all about turning up the momentum. With Gene�s first dirtybird release currently bumping in the clubs, and tracks dropping on Visonquest, Defected, Cajual and Relief this spring, his insatiable drive, talent and love of his craft clearly keep him on the cutting edge, and sharing his wealth of house music with the world.
Galen founded Sunset Sound System with the idea of providing free, outdoor picnic-style parties where people could commune and dance while watching the sun set behind the San Francisco skyline. Word spread quickly, and what began as a few friends with speakers and a generator turned into festivities of over 1,000 people within the first year. Today, Sunset Sound System is on the move, boasting big-name talent for their international boat parties, festival-style campouts and famed park gatherings.
The summer of 2013 opened European doors with a breakthrough appearance at Dirtybird�s Ibiza residency. At Croatia's Garden Festival, Galen shined on the Sunset Sound System Boat Party alongside Justin Martin, Eats Everything, and Solar. His new track, "ICANCU" has just been released on the Dirtybird BBQ Compilation and another "Your Own Style" is to coming out soon on Smoke N' Mirrors. 2014 also brings the boys of Sunset Sound System back to Croatia for another Garden Festival Boat Party among other European dates.
