appearing together to benefit the Locus Science Fiction Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to the promotion and preservation of science fiction, fantasy, and horror.

The Locus Science Fiction Foundation, founded by Charles N. Brown, holds the Locus Collection, a large, historical library of speculative fiction materials, including photographs, recordings, books, artwork, and ephemera. It publishes Locus, the Magazine of the Science Fiction & Fantasy Field, and its website Locus Online, and has administered the Annual Locus Awards since 1971.

Each author will read a selection from their new work, followed by Q&A with the audience, moderated by author Terry Bisson. Refreshments for sale at event. Books for sale courtesy of Borderlands Books; please feel free to bring books from home for signing!

GARTH NIX - born in 1963 in Melbourne, Australia, he's been a full-time writer since 2001. Garth’s books include the award-winning young adult fantasy novels Sabriel, Lirael and Abhorsen; the dystopian novel Shade’s Children; the space opera A Confusion of Princes; and a Regency romance with magic, Newt’s Emerald. His fantasy novels for children include The Ragwitch; the six books of The Seventh Tower sequence; The Keys to the Kingdom series; and the Troubletwisters series and Spirit Animals: Blood Ties (co-written with Sean Williams). Garth’s next book, Clariel, is a prequel to the Old Kingdom trilogy, to be released in October 2014. More than five million copies of his books have been sold around the world, his books have appeared on the bestseller lists of The New York Times, Publishers Weekly, The Guardian and The Australian, and his work has been translated into 40 languages. He lives in a Sydney beach suburb with his wife and two children.

YSABEAU WILCE - an award-winning American author of YA fantasy novels, featuring the rebellious young heroine Flora Fyrdraaca and her adventures in the fictional land of Califa. She has a graduate degree in military history and lives in the San Francisco Bay Area. Her books include Flora Segunda: Being the Magickal Mishaps of a Girl of Spirit, Her Glass-Gazing Sidekick, Two Ominous Butlers (One Blue), a House with Eleven Thousand Rooms, and a Red Dog (2007); the 2008 Andre Norton Award-winning Flora's Dare: How a Girl of Spirit Gambles All to Expand Her Vocabulary, Confront a Bouncing Boy Terror, and Try to Save Califa from a Shaky Doom (Despite Being Confined to Her Room); and Flora's Fury: How a Girl of Spirit and a Red Dog Confound Their Friends, Astound Their Enemies, and Learn the Importance of Packing Light (2012). Her short fiction has appeared in F&SF, Asimov's, Steampunk!, and other notable publications.
