The first San Francisco Bacon and Beer Festival will be August 25th, 2:30-5pm at the Fairmont Hotel SF. The festival is a lively celebration of local, innovative restaurants and craft breweries, with proceeds going to Bay Area organization, Sprouts Cooking Club. The Bacon and Beer Festival was first held in Boston four years ago by Eat Boston, and is being brought to San Francisco in partnership with Bay Area brewery Bison Organic Beer.
Chefs and butchers from over 25 Bay Area establishments including Haven, Tacolicious, Nojo, Avedano's, Hopscotch, and Fatted Calf will plate their best bacon dishes using bacon generously donated by Zoe's Meats; while over 20 local breweries, like Speakeasy, Lagunitas, Knee Deep, Sierra Nevada, and Drakes will share a selection of their craft beers. The full list of participants, as well as tickets ($50) and additional information, can be found on the event website.
The San Francisco Bacon and Beer Festival originates from Eat Boston’s annual Boston Bacon & Beer Festival, which has become one of the most sought-after tickets for beer and food lovers in the region. The event has sold out in under 10 minutes the last three years - this year, the 1200 tickets available sold out in three minutes flat. To date, the Boston events and the Denver Bacon & Beer Festival have raised almost $100K for local food-related non-profits. The San Francisco Bacon and Beer Festival hosts are excited for the Bay Area's thriving food and drink industry to join in the fun and to rally for the incredible work of organizations like Sprouts Cooking Club.
