Highly gifted young musicians from around the world meet to perform a gala program of string orchestra and chamber music at Grace Cathedral, San Francisco’s landmark cathedral on Nob Hill.
The concert will be given on Tuesday, August 8 at 7:30 p.m. The program will include the haunting Vaughan Williams “Fantasia on a theme by Thomas Tallis” for double-stringed orchestra, the famous Albinoni Adagio, as well as “Zwei Waltzes” by Dvorak. There will also be a chamber music gala of movements from some of the most popular string quartets including “The American” by Dvorak, Brahms’ a minor quartet, the Shostakovich Octet, the Dvorak string quintet, and others.
This concert is one of a series of three: the two other performances will be held at St. Mary’s Cathedral on August 2 and Mission Dolores on August 7.
