Join us for First Air War , an aviation symposium co-sponsored by WW1HA and the League of World War I Aviation Historians. Be sure to tell your friends and associates ― a free opportunity to hear some great speakers, shop for books and aviation art, and check out models and exhibits. We’ll also have tabletop gaming and other aviation history groups present to talk with. Video of last year's event at http://bit.ly/29ZanAR.
Our distinguished presenters include:
Jack Herris: The World's First Strategic Bombing Campaign
World War 2 was brought to an end by the atomic attacks on Japan, although bombing campaigns with conventional weapons continued with mixed results in Korea, Vietnam, and today in the Middle East. This seminar examines the beginning of strategic bombing to see how it all started in 1914 and why it was not the war-winning weapon in World War 1 that it proved to be in World War 2.
Dana Lombardy: "Knights of the Sky" and the Struggle for Air Superiority
World War One in the air has been popularized by Snoopy ("Curse you, Red Baron!"), and remembered as the idealized or "noble" combat in four years of mind-numbing slaughter. But the true story about the fighter aircraft and aces is a fascinating tale of technological achievements and fierce competition for control of the skies.
