Viol players Peter Hallifax & Julie Jeffrey, with special guest Shira Kammen, violin, will play a program of Elizabethan and Jacobean music, including pieces by Dowland, Gibbons, Hume, Lupo - and many hitherto-unheard delights. This varied and exciting program will feature fantasies, dances, divisions, lyra-viol eccentricities, and some Twelfth Night ditties in honor of the day. Some of this music is famous, and some of it should be.
Hallifax & Jeffrey have been deepening their repertoire of Elizabethan and Jacobean music for several years now, often putting together larger groups featuring Bay Area icon Shira Kammen, but this is their first program as a trio.
