The Goethe Institut proudly presents “Everything We Want”, the new movie by Beatrice Möller. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with the director and by a panel discussion on portraits in film and visual arts.
About the movie:
Are there any instructions on how to be a woman these days? Everything seems possible for the thirty-somethings tackling their lives today, as the globalized world offers a myriad of options – more than ever before. On the flip side, the certainties we used to lean on have become alarmingly shaky. Past generations’ gender roles and concepts of living are no longer valid for their daughters – and mothers, half admiringly, half doubtfully, watch their thirty-year-olds plough their way through the overwhelming choices freedom offers them. Over a period of three years, director Beatrice Möller followed three of those young women in their individual search for the „right“ way to live their lives.
The panelists are:
Beatrice Möller, an award-winning documentary filmmaker from Berlin and director of “Everything We Want”.
Thomas Heinser, the Photo-Artist of our current photo exhibition “Still / Life”.
Sergio De La Torre, an artist and also an Assistant Professor at University of San Francisco Art and Architecture Department.
Moderator: Karen Fiss, a cultural historian and professor at the California College of the Arts.
The movie and the discussion take place in the Auditorium of the Goethe Institut and instead of tickets we suggest a donation of $5. The movie will be in German with English subtitles.
