Fall Open Studios & Youth Open Studios Hosted at The San Francisco Shipyard

SEE EVENT DETAILS
at The San Francisco Shipyard (see times)
Over 180 artists will welcome close to 10,000 attendees into their working studios to explore, experience and collect local art as part of the 2014 Fall Open Studios, America's oldest and largest open studios event, hosted by Hunters Point Shipyard Artists and ArtSpan at The San Francisco Shipyard. The weekend art fest includes art exhibits, live music, a food truck court, a beer garden, art activities for kids, a PUBLIC Bikes giveaway and live and silent auctions sponsored by STAR (Shipyard Trust for the Arts), the non-profit that has represented the interests of the artists at the Shipyard since 1995.

This will also mark the kick-off of ArtSpan's Youth Open Studios, an exciting new pilot program that offers exhibition opportunities for youth artists K-12, providing a platform for young artists to thrive under the guidance of working artists.

Youth Open Studios participants receive free registration in the event, promotional and program support from ArtSpan and the chance to join ArtSpan's community of over 800+ professional working artists in San Francisco. Students also gain leadership skills, practice in public speaking and a chance to show their creativity to a vast audience of art appreciators. They will learn what it takes to work toward an exhibition deadline and prepare to represent themselves as legitimate artists. The event itself will feature a host of activities for children and families including hands-on art activities, student showcases, performances and much more.

New this year, Lennar Urban is providing two free shuttles along with complimentary refreshments at The San Francisco Shipyard Welcome Center (11 Innes Court) across from the event. The Welcome Center provides an overview of the transformative new community and the Hunters Point Shipyard Artists.
