Opening reception Jan. 23, 7-10 p.m., Exhibition Jan. 17-April 12
What is the sound of art? The Palo Alto Art Center will attempt to answer that compelling question through its upcoming exhibition, Hear This!, Jan. 17-April 12 at the Palo Alto Art Center, 1313 Newell Road, Palo Alto, Calif.
The exhibition will present works by five contemporary artists who employ the power of sound in artworks that explore perception, the passage of time, and nostalgia. Visitors will be immersed in sonic experiences by artists such as Oakland, Calif.-based Kate Lee Short, who creates monumental sculptures comprised of stacks of salvaged speakers, and Chris Duncan, also of Oakland, who invites visitors to make sounds on his door-sized string instrument.
