diPietro Todd Union Square announces its presentation of Entanglement, a solo exhibition of new work by Bay Area artist Naomi Alessandra. Free and open to the public, the series of 25+ paintings will be on view from November 5, 2016 through February 3, 2017 at the salon’s 177 Post Street location in San Francisco’s Union Square.
The artist’s fashion illustration background serves as a starting point for these figurative water media pieces, which place a series of spectral characters in the context of current social touchpoints and environments. Signifiers of cultural identity and modern existence—fashion, gender, hair, skin color, urban and suburban motifs, skateboarding, tattoos, social media—are woven into the narrative as the characters navigate personal and shared landscapes.
