British punk rock/crossover thrash band English Dogs got their start in 1981, and are surprisingly busy this year: they released two LPs. Actually, it's more complicated than that. There are two different active versions of English Dogs, each claiming to be the real English Dogs. One released the LP, The Thing With Two Heads, and is led by original drummer Andrew "Pinch" Pinching--and it's a metal band. The other released We Did, We Do, We Always Fucking Will, and is led by original vocalist Pete "Wakey" Wakefield--and they play hardcore. They each make a case as the original English Dogs had a punk and a metal phase. The version of English Dogs heading to San Jose this Friday is the hardcore one. Fret not metal fans, it shouldn't be too long till the metal version of English Dogs comes through town. (Aaron Carnes)
