Daylighted gallery is pleased to present the artwork of Julie Garner in a digital exhibition “Edge of Sky” at the Waterfront Hotel in Oakland, CA. The Waterfront is the perfect venue to show off Julie Garner's structural, multifaceted photography through the dynamic power of Daylighted’s technology.
Influenced by her roots in San Francisco, Garner uses physical structures created by humans as her artistic muse. She stitches her own photographs together to recast the relationships between people and architecture. Garner's meticulous and innovative work begins by taking multiple photographs from different vantage points. She then cuts, splices and weaves the pictures by hand, often precisely aligning hundreds of sections to control the degree of abstraction in her work. In this way, her practice addresses both the contemporary onmipresence of digital manipulation and the classically Cubist investigation into diffracted visuality.
The opening event will be held at the hotel on Friday, February 26th 2015 from 6:30 to 8:30. Come meet the artist, and discover the SmArtGallery. Free to the public, wine and cheese.
