In the mid 90’s, Red Army aka ‘James Fuhring’ rocked audiences in seminal punk/hardcore bands Mohinder and Jenny Piccolo. It was during the latter that he accidentally discovered the sound of Drum & Bass while in Berlin on a European tour. James was so blown away by this sound; he shortly sold all of his music equipment to buy a sampler, turntables and a mixer. The first two years were rough as he knew no one involved in DNB, only a local Santa Cruz radio show called 'The Metallic Blurp,' hosted by the Argon Records crew. James, on a whim, emailed the radio show to ask if he could meet up with other like minds. There he would meet the other two members that would form the 3-piece, Red Army. Together, they would shortly set dance floors on fire with releases on Skunkrock, Argon, Phuturo and eventually, N2O. The N2O deal soured on the crew, and it was beginning to be harder to work in the studio as James relocated to Sacramento, Joaquin would move back to San Diego to begin his film directing career and Justin would start what is now known as one of the largest electronic groups right now, The Glitch Mob. This left James as the soul output for the Red Army moniker. While getting nibbles for releases from a few labels, 05-09, saw a hard time on DNB altogether. Labels were switching to digital formats and vinyl was becoming obsolete, folding a great deal of labels, including ones that were planning on new Red Army releases. These tunes still have never seen the light of day. In 2009, James got serious again about the production side of the music and slowly started to release again on Simplify Recordings and Onset Audio, two Seattle based labels who are solely responsible for getting his music back out on the dance floors. Flash forward to the present, Red Army is now being released on Turbine Music (both digitally and some soon to be vinyl releases), Ground Mass, Onset Audio (responsible for 7 of his current releases) and a slew of support from some of the scene's veterans and up and comer's like Bailey, Dexta, Maouq, Stunna, Spindall, Homemade Weapons, Clima, Interline, Gremlinz, Reza, to name a few. And his High Grade EP should be available everywhere by the time you read this.'

Facebook:

Nebakaneza is nuts! I think he is certifiably insane, but he seems to find his therapy by slamming heavy beats through the speakers. He is a music lover’s DJ, and a true collector of many genres of music.
When he was old enough to get a job, he started working at various record stores, but most of his earnings went right back into buying music. He studied radio broadcasting and became the music director for his college radio station, and won an award for broadcaster of the year. By the mid 2000’s, he started DJing in bars and clubs and working at Clear Channel radio, with a small internship at Om Records. He eventually landed his own late night electronica show on the commercial radio station KKSF, acting as both music director and host. He started a weekly event in San Francisco with his business partner Johnny 5, called Ritual, which lasted for 3 years and at one point was the largest reoccurring Dubstep event on the West Coast. They eventually expanded into Los Angeles and other clubs in San Francisco. Later, he became a music director for another commercial radio station, Live 105, for their late night dubstep program, Wobble Wednesday. Recently he was on the cover of the SF Bay Guardian newspaper and won their annual Goldie award. He is still collecting music on a large scale, throwing successful events, and causing a ruckus with no sign of slowing down.
The name comes from King Nebuchadnezzar II who was an evil ruler of ancient Babylon, and who built the Hanging Gardens. Eventually he was exiled and spent 7 years in the wilderness wandering the land like a beast. There are many rumors about the mask, no one knows the truth.

In a recent interview, Nebakaneza says, "I eat paint. I like to climb up into trees and jump down on little kids in the park and make them pee themselves. I am a convicted felon in 49 states and like to eat paint. I frequently go to Bingo tournaments and pretend I speak Italian, to Koreans. I have 17 girlfriends that are between the ages of 62 and 78, and I enjoy dining on a healthy plate of paint. On the 3rd Wednesday of every other month, in even numbered years, I take a bath in canned tuna fish mixed with live tuna fish, then lay in the street while dozens of feral cats lick my body clean. I frequently eat paint. Last night I met a sailor that I paid 73 cents to, and he beat me senseless while I did cart wheels on a 2007 Ford Fiesta. I am so much of a hippy vegan that I do not actually even eat food anymore, I just meditate until I am no longer hungry, and I have done this for 19 years, but for some reason I still have regular bowel movements that come out in vivid technicolor because it is only paint."
