On Sunday, August 31st, Dub Mission celebrates 18 years of spreading the dub virus throughout the Bay Area and beyond. Dub Mission’s resident DJs will have the dance floor jumping with a showcase our signature mix of modern and classic dub, roots reggae, dancehall plus touches of cumbia, moombahton, tropical, rootstep, drum’n’bass, and more. We’ll top it all off with a live special live performance by J Boogie's Dubtronic Science featuring some of the best musicians in the Bay Area improvising together as our resident DJ serves his eclectic mix of his dubbed-out beats.

With four full-length releases out on Om Records, DJ Boogie’s Dutronic Science with Aima the Dreamer (DJ Vadim, The Mamaz, Brass, Bows & Beats, Goddess Alchemy Project, Le Femme Deadly Venoms) on vocals, Mike Olmos (Jazz Mafia) on trumpet, Garrett Kobseff (Mikey Dread, Don Carlos) on saxophone, and Enrique Padilla (Afrolicious) on Latin percussion, has appeared at festivals throughout the U.S. including Symbiosis, Earthdance, Power to the Peaceful, and Bumbershoot.

J Boogie is a San Francisco resident and world-renowned DJ/producer who continues to challenge the boundaries of the music world across genres, styles, languages and borders throughout his 20-year career. Speaking to his listeners through a diverse musical language, he integrates techniques with a long list of musical genres: downtempo, dub, hip hop, soul, reggae, funk, African, Latin, bhangra, dancehall, disco, electro, bass, tropical, dubstep and house. Constantly revolutionizing the game, creating new sounds, and always keeping fans on their feet, J Boogie continues to lift music to its full potential through his distinct approach and one-of-a-kind style.

DJ Sep is the founder, promoter, and main resident DJ at Dub Mission. For 22 years, Sep was also on Bay Area radio: first at college radio station KUSF and later at Berkeley's public radio station, KPFA. She's the co-compiler (with producer Shockman) of Babylon Is Ours: The USA in Dub, a collection of all-exclusive American dub tracks (on Select Cuts). In 2009, Mochipet's Daly City Records released her remixes (with Jason Short) of "Get Your Dub Wet" featuring Juakali and Mista Chatman. Sep has won a Goldie Award (Bay Guardian) and been nominated for Best DJ (SF Weekly Music Awards). She has spun at venues in London, New York, Washington DC, Miami, and Los Angeles and has opened for the likes of Sly & Robbie, The Wailers, Culture, Big Youth, Les Nubians, Rachid Taha, Kinky, and The Cinematic Orchestra among many others. Her latest projects, the Biggering Riddim, an EP of original music featuring dr. Israel and Mista Chatman; the BASSment mix, and Reggae Got Dhol featuring refixes of tunes by Gregory Isaacs and Lady G are all available for download on her Soundcloud page.

Maneesh the Twister has been a staple of the Bay Area music scene for over 15 years as part of Surya Dub, Dub Mission, and Dhamaal. Maneesh has won "Best Club DJ" of San Francisco by the SF Bay Guardian. He is the founder of the Surya Dub collective that helped kick off the Bay Area BASS era. He was co-founder of the Dhamaal Artist Collective and his productions appear on the Dhamaal Soundsystem CD as well as XBOX 360 game "Project Gotham" and Sony BMG India's Shamur compilation and Kush Arora's "Boiling Over." Maneesh has quite eclectic tastes and spins anything with BASS. He has shared the stage with legendary Jamaican producers Lee "Scratch" Perry and Scientist, Thievery Corporation, Bassnectar, Mad Professor, Francois K, Kode 9, Adrian Sherwood, Mala, The Bug & Warrior Queen, Flying Lotus, Eskmo, Visionary, State of Bengal, Smith & Mighty/RSD, Karsh Kale, Nickodemus, Z-Trip, DJ Vadim, Liondub, Dan the Automator, Kush Arora, Dub Gabriel, Jah Warrior Shelter Hi-Fi, DJ G, Antiserum & Roommate. He co-hosts (with Kush Arora) "The Surya Dub Takeover," a monthly Monday night radio show on KPFA.

Vinnie Esparza is a staple of the San Francisco DJ scene and spins at various parties around the city including Hella Tight and Groove Merchant Friday. In 2000, Vinnie won "Best Local DJ" in the S.F. Bay Guardian's "Best of the Bay" edition. The next year he won the City Search Editor's Award for "Best Local DJ." He has also been nominated for "Best Local DJ" in the SF Weekly in both 2001 and 2003. He was the first DJ to play the Monterey Jazz Festival on their 50th Anniversary and was asked to return the following year. He has also been asked to spin the Quebec City Jazz Festival, and was again their first-ever DJ booking. He has compiled the Loose & Juicy collection for Vanguard Records, Viva CuBop 2 for Ubiquity Records and coordinated the reissue of Bobby Montez's Jungle Fantastique for the same label. Vinnie spins a wide variety of music including roots reggae, jazz, hip hop, and soul to name only a few.
