DOTS & DASHES: Another Morse Code is a two-person exhibition of work by Linda Davenport and Richard Wright. Emphasizing the formal rather than the thematic, Davenport and Wright produce work, concurrently but independently of one another, with primary elements composed almost entirely of dots and dashes.
Using jute, thread, fabric, and embroidery floss, Davenport stitches together dizzying freeform textiles that resemble kaleidoscopic circuit boards. In contrast, Wrights’ work is exclusively figurative, yet the technique he uses to create various multicolored animals and creatures on paper plainly echo the dots and dashes present in Davenport’s elaborate fabric creations.
Curated by E. Francis Kohler.
Participating artists: Linda Davenport and Richard Wright.
