THIS EVENT HAS ENDED
The Sesnon Art Gallery is excited to reveal DOC/UNDOC, October 3 – December 6, 2014, a seven-year collaboration that tackles issues of documentation and identity in America. The Sesnon Gallery exhibition unfolds, literally, with Felicia Rice’s innovative large-scale book as the focal point within the gallery. It features Guillermo Gomez-Pena's performance texts and Felicia Rice's relief prints and typography, critical commentary by Professor Jennifer Gonzalez, video by Professor Gustavo Vazquez, and interactive sound art by Zachary Watkins. When fully opened, the accordion-style book winds along the length of a 30-ft. table. The book is displayed in an activated installation where Guillermo Gomez-Pena creates ritualistic performance art — what critics have termed "Chicano cyber-punk performances" and "ethno-techno art." Two large video projections will drape the walls of the gallery and feature some of these performances. In the back gallery is a provocative video called "Mexercize."
