Director's Pick includes new work by gallery artists and introduces artists Melanie Pullen and Lavender Wolf. Pullen's photographic series High Fashion Crime Scenes recreates crime scenes in which the victims are outfitted in haute couture. The series explores our responses to violent images and how they are more shocking when beautiful women in glamorous designer clothes are involved. Wolf uses collage to create simple yet detailed works from colorful cut paper, continuing in the tradition of Henri Matisse's famous paper collages. Sculptor Lynn Aldrich, recipient of 2014 Guggenheim Fellowship, assembles cleaning supplies and water hoses to emulate nature and evoke the sublime.
