DIGITALISM
FacebookTwitterSoundcloud
Digitalism is a German electro duo, founded in 2004 in Hamburg, consisting of Jens "Jence" Moelle and ?smail "Isi" Tüfekçi. Jens likens Digitalism's songs to simple chapters in a complex novel about social interaction and attraction, with distorted baselines and thumping rhythms comprising the punctuation. Digitalism is pioneering the electro-punk and indie dance movements, making appearances at festivals such as Coachella and various clubs worldwide. Digitalism's debut album, Idealism, was released 9 May 2007 as Digitalism on Toshiba EMI Records in Japan, on May 21, 2007 on Kitsuné Music in France and on Astralwerks in North America. The album includes re-edits of the previously released singles "Jupiter Room", "Zdarlight" as well as their "Digitalism in Cairo" original re-edit of a track by the Cure which actually doesn't feature a sample from the track. In June 2011, Digitalism released the second studioalbum, I love You Dude, on Cooperative Music. The ablum includes the previously released singles "Blitz" and Stratophere", the hit-single "2 Hearts" and a cooperation with Julian Casablancas. All over the sound on the second album has become more openminded. Digitalism's sound is crossing the limits between Electro, Rock and Indie. Their 'Lift EP' (2013), is the first time they have collaborated on tracks, and marks a return to the label that helped introduce them to international dance floors - 'Kitsune records.' The duo deliberately carved out long-stretches of studio time in 2013 to work on collaborations and new material. 'Fahrenheit 32', the latest release from Digitalism is available for free on Soundcloud here - http://bit.ly/FH-32 Digitalism has remixed tracks for Tom Vek, The Futureheads, Daft Punk, Tiga, Klaxons, White Stripes, Monk, Depeche Mode, Cut Copy and many others. Their tracks and remixes are played by DJs such as Erol Alkan, Soulwax, Boys Noize, and Justice, among others. Jens Moelle has released a solo EP on Kitsuné Music under the name Palermo Disko Machine.

HUMANS
FacebookTwitterSoundcloud
HUMANS is a Canadian indie-electronic duo made up of musicians Robbie Slade and Peter Ricq. Since coming together in 2010, HUMANS has established themselves through creating sounds that successfully fuse experimental electronic elements with catchy indie-pop hooks. Focusing on performance and production styles of both the past and present, HUMANS have consistently impressed upon audiophiles with their technical and compositional skills. Using a combination of synthesizers and instruments, the sound has a certain way of being very unique, while not tied down to one specific genre. The duo’s self-released EP Avec Mes Mecs (2010) captured the blind, wild, captivating joy of unrestrained youth, and seminal lyrics like “Who knew all we had to do was party” quickly made the EP a house party staple. The follow up EP, Traps was released in 2012 with Hybridity Music. The release saw critical acclaim and college radio success, holding the #1 position for 6 weeks on the earshot electronic charts, and ranking in the top ten on BPM. Traps received a 4/5 on Resident Advisor, and the record was featured on XLR8R, Prefix, Indie Shuffle, Spinner, Interview Magazine, Rcrd Lbl, and scored the cover of Beatroute Magazine. Remixes included acclaimed producers Nautiluss and Max Ulis. In 2013, the EP lead HUMANS on a North American tour including slots at Osheaga, Squamish Valley Music Fest, Bass Coast, SXSW, and CMJ. Their music has been featured in placements with Red Bull, Entourage, CSI, and MTV. When not making music, Slade works on a number of projects including Bass Coast Festival, while Ricq is a well respected indie director and illustrative visual artist.

REDINHO
FacebookTwitterSoundcloud
Redinho’s always been different. Debuting on Numbers in 2010, his Bare Blips EP showcased an artist with no desire to fit into the landscape of the time. Darting between styles and tempos across six tracks that drew from grime, hiphop, funk and more, the only constant on Bare Blips’ tracks was that they kicked back – or, at least, remained blissfully ignorant – of the 130bpm house that the rest of the UK was gravitating towards. On his first album, Redinho finds the perfect solution to being out of step – creating his own world to fit into. Across 15 tracks, including acclaimed past singles ‘Searching’ and ‘Stay Together’, Redinho conjures up visions of the deep sea, deep space, notsodeep jacuzzi parties and everything between, binding them together into an aesthetic that’s both stylish and starryeyed. Drum machinedriven ‘80s funk is a key influence here, as it always has been with Redinho and Numbers, but where Redinho excels is how sublimely he combines it with other genres: the ‘hey’ chants and drum patterns of Atlanta hiphop on ‘Playing with Fire’, Detroit techno on ‘Shem’, the freeform dreamscapes of ‘Bubbles’, 707driven Chicago house on ‘Going Nowhere‘ and downtrodden electronica on ‘Say I Want You’. It only takes a few tracks to realise that Redinho’s studied the ‘80s, and the sounds and dynamics that make that style work, but this is far from a throwback album. With a masterful modern sheen and links to contemporary pop and hiphop, it’s hard to imagine it being released any time but now.
