This Fall Dharma College is offering three transformative 6-Week courses to spark your mind and change your life. Classes are held at our Downtown Berkeley location at 2222 Harold Way (Between Kittridge St and Allston Way). All students are welcome; no prerequisites required. Please see below for registration details.
The Stories Mind Tells | Tuesdays, September 20-October 25, 5:30pm - 7pm
Instructor: Abbe Blum
Most of us have told the story of our life so often that we have lost the ability to understand it in any other way. We star in the ‘story of me’ and firmly believe the story is real. But do we like our story? Does it make us happy? If not, can we change it? Join us, as we use elements of storytelling as metaphors to re-imagine our lives. The only requirements are curiosity, the ability to laugh and the willingness to be creative!
Who’s Thinking? | Wednesdays, September 21-October 26, 5:30pm - 7pm
Instructor: Jack Petranker
Self-knowledge is the key to developing joyful confidence, whatever our spiritual path. If we do not know ‘who’ is thinking, how can we rely on our thoughts? How can we decide what action to take in the world? In this engaging and accessible course based on Dimensions of Mind—the new book by Tibetan Lama Tarthang Tulku—we will explore ‘I’, ‘me’, ‘mine’ and ‘mind’ through lively discussion, interactive dialogue, and contemplative exercises. The one thinking may not be who you imagined!
Confused Mind is Not My Friend | Thursdays, September 22-October 27, 1:30-3pm, Instructor: Abbe Blum
We present ourselves to the world as a single being operating rationally from a single perspective, but inside a whole society is active. In this popular course, we’ll look more closely at ‘role-playing mind’ and how the operations of mind can confuse us. As we explore differently, a new way of understanding mind develops. Stale patterns drop away. Confusion turns to clarity. Daily life becomes easier and more enjoyable.
