James Kroner

James Kroner work reveals a continuous fascination with the shifting patterns of light and the energy within nature. He pays close attention to tone and color as he chases the double-edged atmosphere of a scene, both real and other-worldly.

“While painting my intention is to make a discovery, the process itself is an unknown
and I want the viewer to be able to experience this excitement within the painting.” Fueled by the blind enthusiasm to understand himself, Kroner has regularly kept books full of field writings which have also come to serve as a large part of his painting process. “I learned how to paint outdoors. Everything I do is referencing the feeling of painting from life”. This is why we see a particular movement and energy within his work, it is very much taking from the mystery of nature. Kroner has now caught the attention of many collectors and enthusiasts in the art world, looking to be just the beginning of a long, adventurous career.

Judith Williams

Judith Williams is both interested and annoyed by the endless trail of papers, bills, lists, newspapers, letters, and advertisements to name a few, that are mailed and delivered to us. She piles them up in stacks, or discard them for the trash. Grocery lists, sketches, journal pages, sewing pattern papers, funnies, architectural drawings, and calligraphic papers are media transported with encaustic paint.

Williams’ intent is to recycle these into appealing visuals improvising with line, color, and form. As a continuation of her passion for and years of studying dance, she seeks rhythm and movement in her paintings. Encaustic, a mixture of beeswax and resin (tree sap) allows her to reveal, preserve, and conceal these collections of paper in the wax because of its transparency and translucencies. Williams draws and paints over these papers. It’s the hidden layers, and buried history that captures time and intrigues her.
