Deep East: Homero Espinosa, Zoz, Nackt

at Lounge 3411 (see times)
This Thursday's Deep East lineup is very exciting! We're honored to welcome two of my favorite local DJs as guests: Homero Espinosa and Zoz. As a fan of these DJs first and foremost, it's going to be a real personal treat to have them play our Oakland weekly!

Homero Espinosa is something of a local legend, beginning his career in the Bay Area in the early 90's as a DJ and promoter. His original productions have received support from Miguel Migs, DJ Heather, and his tunes have been featured on Mark Farina's Fabric and Ministry of Sound mixes! Homero's record label, Yerba Buena Discos, has released countless classic House tunes, and he is also now part of the Moulton Music family with label mates Allen Craig and Chris Lum, to name a few. Homero Espinosa is a true House head, and his excellent selection as a DJ will surely get the room jumping!

Zoz (aka Evan McDonnell) is a vinyl technician that blew me away the first time I saw him DJ. It was a roof top renegade party that was set to go all night, and even in the bitter cold of a San Francisco winter, hundreds of feet in the air at 3am, Zoz was all smilies when he hit the stage. Perfectly happy to break his back lugging out crates of vinyl to keep us moving our feet, Zoz had that magic touch, knowing exactly what people wanted next, before they even knew themselves. His killer record collection is not to be missed!

Nackt is 1/4 of the Deep East crew, happy to be bringing more dance parties to Oakland! As an East Bay native, he grew up playing jazz saxophone and collecting Funk and Soul records. His obsession with Soul and Deep Groove vinyl earned him a weekly residency at Oakland hot-spot, Ruby Room. Excited by the House and Garage revival happening in the UK Bass scene, Nackt has shifted focus to DJ funky Deep House, Techno, and Bass-heavy beats from across the globe.

We're also happy to have back YesI'm cooking! Don't eat dinner before the party, because there are always some delicious menu options to please meat-eaters and vegetarians alike. Get there early because the food always seems to sell out! Menu will be posted closer to the date.

It's a pleasure to share the stage with these fine DJs, I can't wait for May 16 to come already! Huge thanks to Homero Espinosa and Zoz for coming to play, Yesim and Sandrita for cooking, Tomas Hidalgo for taking photos, and most of all YOU for coming out and dancing!

Happy hour from 9-10pm: $2 drafts, $4 specialty/calls
