Death on the River Ganges is a one of a kind experience, immersing the audience into theatrics, story, culture, ceremony and community dialog about life, death and transformation. Upon very entry into the theater, you will be transported through a feast of the senses to the banks of river Ganges in Varanasi, one of the holiest cities in India, and find yourself searching for your answers, engrossed in a story of four Bay Area women on a journey to honor the last wishes of a dearly loved friend; to confronting life, endings and what it means to be alive.

Death on the River Ganges follows four Bay Area women who journey to the banks of river Ganges in Varanasi, one of the holiest cities in India, to honor the last wishes of a dearly loved friend. The women set forth and find themselves on a quest to answer the eternal question about mortality and what it means to be alive.

Produced by Siren Project, the play is scripted out of a collaborative yearlong exploration and exposé on the role death plays in our lives and the potential for living a fuller life through the exploration humanity’s ultimate and eternal quest to make sense of the delights and dilemmas of life in the face of mortality. Fifty seven stories from this work inspired the creation of the play.
