MARIN CENTER PRESENTS welcomes audiences to a first time in Marin and a special Mother’s Day champagne brunch at Embassy Suites followed by a concert at Marin Veteran’s Auditorium by the mellifluous American singer, Deana Martin, daughter of iconic entertainer Dean Martin. Marin Center will host a special Mother’s Day brunch at Embassy’s Suites, Sunday, May 10th, from 11am to 1pm. The concert will follow at 3 pm.
Performing such classic hits as It Had to Be You, Strangers in the Night, Mack the Knife and more, Martin will take audiences on a musical journey honoring her father and his Rat Pack cronies while she adds captivating stories of her days with “Uncle Frank”, Sammy Davis Jr. and many other legends.
Deana Martin is an accomplished actress and entertainer who has achieved success in all facets of the entertainment industry. She is currently at work on her autobiography, tentatively titled "Memories are Made of This." She made her television debut in 1966, performing on her father's legendary series The Dean Martin Show. She soon became a frequent guest, taking part in both musical and comedy numbers with a wide array of guests including Frank Sinatra.
Martin’s stage credits include English productions of Romeo & Juliet, The Taming of the Shrew, Hamlet and A Taste of Honey, Neil Simon’s The Star Spangled Girl and appearances in Wait Until Dark, A Shot In the Dark and The Tunnel of Love.
Concurrent with her theatrical work, Martin was a Reprise Records recording artist. Her single, "Girl of the Month Club", was a radio favorite and a chart topper.
Deana Martin’s desire to continue her father’s lifelong tradition of support for various children’s charitable causes has led to her role as spokeswoman for The Roosters -- a California based organization that supports several children’s charities throughout the country. In 2002, Deana, along with her husband, John Griffith, successfully lobbied the Steubenville, Ohio legislature to name her father’s June 7th birthday as the "Dean Martin Day", now a state holiday. This ensured the continued success of the Dean Martin Festival, a boon to the local economy, and the future endowment of the Dean Martin Scholarships.
