Dead Sara: Los Angeles' Dead Sara make heavy female-led psychedelia for modern rockers with a love for revamped nostalgia and catchy tunes. Live, the four piece band packs one hell of a punch -- pounding drums, heady rhythms, and lead vocalist Emily's pitch-perfect powerhouse vocals. It's no surprise these kids have won the heart of Dave Grohl, killed it as a support act for Muse, and have been featured in everything from video games to car commercials. The band is instantly likeable -- even if you've never heard a single note before, by the time one song is through you'll be bobbing your head at least, and waving your arms like a crazy person at most. The band is more than tight, which is what you'd expect after playing together and constantly touring for more than a decade. Armstrong's lyrical prowess is also an artistic high point -- the girl tells it like it is, confessional and confrontational. And Dead Sara's girl power doesn't stop with Emily. Co-found Siouxsie Medley knows her way around the guitar. At one moment she'll be creating beautiful, down tempo jams before exploding into a fuzzy rock crunch. Fans of hard rock, metal, and even some folksters will be epically pleased with Dead Sara -- the band runs the gamut, but one thing always stays true: they are an intense live act that demands your eyes and ears.
